- 1 oz green
- Size G/6 crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Size 10 crochet cotton: small amount gold metallic
- #3 pearl cotton: small amount red
- 11-oz empty, clean coffee can with plastic lid
- 2 (5/8") black shank buttons
- 12" 1/4"-wide red satin ribbon
- 1" red pompom
- Small amount cosmetic blusher
- Polyester fiberfill
- Tapestry needle
- Craft glue
- Sewing needle and black sewing thread

Pattern Notes
Join rnds with a sl st unless otherwise stated.
Mr. Snowman's head is glued to top of plastic lid. To remove lid from container, reach under scarf and lift lid by edges; don't attempt to remove lid by pulling on snowman's head or it will detach.
Body
Rnd 1: With white, ch 2, 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in beg sc. (10 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as joining and in each rem sc around, join in beg sc. (20 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] rep around, ending with 2 sc in last sc, join in beg sc. (30 sc)

Glue bits of polyester fiberfill evenly around outside of coffee can, place can inside snowman's body and continue stuffing until body is nicely rounded.
Rnd 25: Ch 1, beg in same st as joining, [sc dec, sc in each of next 3 sc] rep around, join in beg sc dec. (56 sts)
Rnd 26: Ch 1, beg in same st as joining, [sc dec, sc in each of next 2 sts] rep around, join in beg sc dec, fasten off. (42 sts)
Head
Rnds 1-5: Beg at top of head, with white, rep Rnds 1-5 of body. (50 sc)
Rnds 6-13: Ch 1, beg in same st as joining, sc in each sc around, join in beg sc. (50 sc)
Rnd 14: Ch 1, beg in same st as joining, [sc dec, sc in each of next 3 sc] rep around, join in beg sc dec. (40 sts)

Stuff head with polyester fiberfill.

First Arm
Row 1: With white, ch 32, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across, ch 1, turn. (31 sc)
Rows 2-4: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn; do not fasten off at end of Row 4.
Row 5: Fold arm in half so ends of rows come tog; working through both thicknesses, sc in each of first 13 sts across last row, ch 3, sl st in last sc made for thumb, sc in each of next 2 sts, sc evenly sp across folded end of arm, sc across rem lps of foundation ch to open end of arm, fasten off, leaving a 10" length for sewing.
Stuff arm lightly. With tapestry needle, sew to side of body over Rnds 19-22.
Second Arm
Rows 1-4: Rep Rows 1-4 of first arm.
Row 5: Fold arm in half as for first arm; working through both thicknesses, sc in each sc across last row, sc evenly sp across folded end of arm, sc in each of first 2 rem lps of foundation ch, work thumb as for first arm, sc across rem sts of foundation ch to open end of arm, fasten off, leaving a 10" length for sewing.
Stuff and sew to snowman's body as for first arm.
Hat
Rnds 1-5: With black, rep Rnds 1-5 of body. (50 sc)
Rnds 6-11: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining and in each sc around, join in beg sc; at end of Rnd 11, fasten off. (50 sc)
Rnd 12: Attach red with a sl st in same st as joining, ch 1, sc in same st as joining and in each rem st around, join in beg sc. (50 sc)
Rnd 13: Rep Rnd 6, fasten off.
Rnd 14: With black, rep Rnd 12. (50 sc)
Rnd 15: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] rep around, ending with 2 sc in last sc, join in beg sc. (75 sc)
Rnd 16: Rep Rnd 6; fasten off.
Leaves
With green, *ch 7, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 2 chs, hdc in next ch, 3 sc in last ch; working in rem lps across opposite side, hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 2 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch, join in beg sc, rep from * once, fasten off.
Berries
With red, *ch 4, 4 dc in 4th ch from hook, remove hook from lp, insert hook in top of beg ch-4, pick up dropped lp and draw through st on hook, rep from * once, fasten off.
Glue leaves to hat over red band; glue berries at center of leaves.
Wreath
Rnd 1: With green, ch 24, join to form a ring, ch 1, 2 sc in same st as joining, [sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch] rep around, ending with sc in last ch, join in beg sc. (36 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, beg in same st as joining, sc in each sc around, join in front lp only of beg sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, working in front lps only this rnd, sc in same st as joining, ch 3, [sc in next sc, ch 3] rep around, join in beg sc. (36 ch-3 lps)
Rnd 4: Sl st in next rem lp of Rnd 2, ch 1, sc in same st and in each rem st around, join in beg sc. (36 sc)
Rnd 5: Working in both lps, rep Rnd 3, fasten off.
Make bow with red ribbon; glue to wreath on Rnd 2. With gold metallic crochet cotton and tapestry needle, work French knots evenly sp over Rnds 1 and 2 of wreath on each side of bow, staggering placement between Rnds 1 and 2.
Scarf
Row 1: With red, ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
Row 2: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
Rep Row 2 until scarf measures approximately 20" long, fasten off.
Knot 1 (3)" strand of red in each st across short end of scarf for fringe.
Trim ends evenly.
Finishing
Using photo as guide, glue pompom to face for nose. With sewing needle and black thread, sew buttons on for eyes. Work mouth with red pearl cotton and tapestry needle. Stuff hat lightly with polyester fiberfill and glue in place on top of head. Glue bottom of head to top of plastic lid. Using photo as a guide, glue top edge of scarf around bottom of snowman's head and to edge of lid, overlapping ends so fringed end is on top. Apply small amount of blusher to cheeks. Place wreath over 1 arm.

Earrings
Make 2
With gold metallic and smaller hook, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook for p, ch 7, drop lp from hook, insert hook in first ch of ch-7, pick up dropped lp and draw through st on hook, [5 sc, ch 2, sl st in last sc made, 5 sc] in ch-7 lp, join at base of first p, fasten off. Set aside.
Purse
Rnd 1: With green and larger hook, ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, join in 4th ch of beg ch-4. (12 dc, counting last 3 chs of beg ch-4 as first dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, [ch 3, sc in next dc] rep around, ending with ch 1, hdc in beg sc to form last ch-3 sp. (12 ch-3 sps)
Rnds 3-6: Ch 1, sc in last sp made, [ch 3, sc in next sp] rep around, ending with ch 1, hdc in beg sc to form last ch-3 sp. (12 ch-3 sps)

Make 2
With green and larger hook, ch 30, fasten off. Weave 1 drawstring through ch-1 sps on Rnd 7 of purse. Beg at opposite side of purse, weave rem drawstring through ch-1 sps of same rnd.
Flower
Rnd 1: With red pearl cotton and smaller hook, [ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook] 5 times, do not join.
Rnd 2: [Sc, 5 dc, sc] in first ch-5 lp and in each rem ch-5 lp around, join in beg sc, fasten off.
Make large French knot at center of flower with gold metallic crochet cotton and tapestry needle.
Sew flower to top of any dc on Rnd 7 of purse.
Finishing
Using photo as a guide, glue pompom to face for nose. With sewing needle and double strand black sewing thread, sew buttons on for eyes. Pull end of thread out at top of eye after button has been sewn on and trim to approximately 3/8" long to form eyelashes.
Work mouth with red pearl cotton. Glue hat to head and bottom of head to top of plastic lid. Glue top edge of collar around bottom of Mrs. Snowman's head and to edge of lid; tie ribbon into bow. Sew 1 earring on each side of head. Place purse over 1 wrist. Apply small amount of blusher to each cheek.
