Here's a very unique ladies top that will definitely collect many glowing compliments for your artistic ability!

Ladies sizes small, medium and large
Finished bust sizes 36 (40, 44) inches
Materials
- Crochet cotton size 10
- 1,000-yd ball natural
- Small amounts each of dark blue, blue, light blue, dark pink, pink, light pink, dark brown, light brown, dark yellow, light yellow, red, purple and green
- Size 5 steel crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle

Gauge
[Dc, ch 1] 5 times = 1 inch; 4 rows = 1 inch
Check gauge to save time.
Pattern Notes
Embroidery thread can be substituted for crochet cotton for the outlining colors.
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Sl st to join each rnd in top of beg st.
Graph-reading knowledge is necessary.
Odd numbered rows are worked from right to left and are RS of front. Even numbered rows are worked left to right and are WS of front.
Beg open mesh: Ch 4 (counts as first dc, ch 1 throughout), sk next ch, dc in next st.
Open mesh: Ch 1, sk next ch or next puff st, dc in next st.
Puff st mesh: [Yo hook, insert hook in indicated ch or puff st, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] twice, yo, draw through all 3 lps on hook, dc in next dc.
Back
Row 1: Starting at lower edge, with natural ch 167 (185, 203), dc in 6th ch from hook, work open mesh across foundation ch, turn. (81, 90, 99 open mesh)
Rows 2-53: Beg open mesh, work open mesh across, turn.
At the end of Row 53, fasten off, turn.
Sleeve Shaping
Row 54: With natural, ch 36 (40, 44), dc in first st on back, work open mesh across row, ch 39 (42, 47), turn.
Row 55: Dc in 6th ch from hook, work open mesh across rem of ch of sleeve, across back and across ch of next sleeve, turn.
Row 56: Beg open mesh, open mesh across row, turn.
Rows 57-88 (92, 96): Rep Row 56.
First Neck Shaping
Row 89 (93, 97): Beg open mesh, work 39 (44, 48) open mesh, turn. (40, 45, 49 open mesh)
Row 90 (94, 98): Beg open mesh, work 39 (44, 48) open mesh, fasten off.
Second Neck Shaping
Row 89 (93, 97): Sk next 37 (40, 45) open mesh for neck opening, attach natural, beg open mesh, work 39 (44, 48) open mesh, turn. (40, 45, 49 open mesh)
Row 90 (94, 98): Beg open mesh, work 39 (44, 48) open mesh, fasten off.
Front
Row 1: Starting at lower edge, with natural, ch 167 (185, 203), dc in 6th ch from hook, work open mesh across foundation ch, turn. (81, 90, 99 open mesh)
Following graph, beg with Row 5 (3, 1). Continue to follow graph through Row 57 (55, 53). At the end of last rep, fasten off.
Sleeve Shaping
Work sleeve shaping the same as for back and continue to follow graph through Row 86 (87, 88). (117, 130, 143 open mesh)
First Neck Shaping
Row 1: Beg open mesh, work 46 (51, 55) open mesh across row, turn. (47, 52, 56 open mesh)
Row 2: At neckline edge, sl st across 2 mesh, work beg open mesh, work open mesh across rem of row, turn. (45, 50, 54 open mesh)
Row 3: Beg at sleeve edge, beg open mesh, work 42 open mesh across row, turn. (43 each size)
Row 4: Beg at neckline edge, sl st across first open mesh, beg open mesh, work open mesh across rem of row, turn. (42 each size)
Row 5: Beg at sleeve edge, beg open mesh, work open mesh across to last mesh, turn. (41 each size)
Row 6: Rep Row 4. (40 each size)
Row 7: Beg open mesh, open mesh across row, turn.
[Rep Row 7] 1 (2, 3) times, fasten off.
Second Neck Shaping
Row 1: Sk next 23 (26, 31) open mesh for neckline opening, attach natural, beg open mesh, open mesh across rem of row, turn. (47, 52, 56 open mesh)
Rep in same manner as first neck shaping, reversing shaping.
Note: As Row 2 of first neck shaping says to beg at neckline edge, to reverse the pattern you will beg at sleeve edge and work 45 (50, 54) open mesh across row, turn.
Detailing
Following graph for color changes, outline puff meshes by working 2 sc in dc on side of mesh or 2 sc in puff st at top or bottom of mesh.
Assembly
Sew shoulder and side seams.
Neckline, Sleeve & Bottom Edgings
Rnd 1: Attach natural at seam, ch 1, sc around in multiples of 6 sc evenly sp around, join in beg sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, beg in same sc, [sc in next sc, sk next 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, sk next 2 sc] rep around, join in beg sc, fasten off.
