I-Cord
I-cords are thick, knitted tubes. They are created by casting on a small number of stitches and working across them with the right side facing at all times. It’s easiest to work I-cords with a pair of double-pointed needles.
I-cords are great for bag handles, to serve as cording to cinch bags closed or as decorative elements on knit fabric.
Using double-pointed knitting needles and the backward loop (or your preferred) cast-on method, cast on the desired number of stitches. Knit across; do not turn. Slide the stitches to the opposite end of the double-pointed knitting needle, pulling the working yarn tightly across the back of the piece. Knit across; do not turn. Repeat until the I-cord is the desired length. Bind off or cut the yarn and pull the end through the stitches. The yarn tails can be run up through the center of the tube to hide them.
